Dorothy M. Felter

Dorothy M. Felter, 95, died Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, in the Commons of Providence in Sandusky.

orn April 6, 1920, in Marion, Ohio, to Ralph and Emma Viola (Mason) Augenstein, she had been a Shelby resident the majority of her life. A 1938 graduate of Galion High School, she was employed at Lazarus Department Store in cosmetics.

Dorothy was a member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She enjoyed going to auctions, vacationing with family in Ocean City, Md., and Hilton Head, S.C. Dorothy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her three sons, William (Liz) Felter of Kent, Ohio, Robert (Jackie) Felter of Shelby and Michael Felter of Milan; one daughter, Patricia (Nathan) Dappen of Upper Arlington, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, Lisa, Kelly, Kris, Angie, Lori, John, Tom, Nick, Alex, Andrea and Susan; 10 great-grandchildren, Kate, Audrey, Ben, Alivia, Spencer, Cooper, Taylor, Erica, Miles and James; and two sisters, Deloris (Dwight) Somerville of Shelby and Mary Anne (Jim) Romine of Galion.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Felter, in 1997; brother, Clarence “Pete” Muth; and daughter-in-law, Sharon Felter.

Private funeral services will be held at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby. Father Jim Sanford will officiate with interment in Most Pure Heart of Mary Cemetery. Public calling hours will not be observed.
